Ocean Action Days at Senckenberg

Turn Love into Action

You don’t need to travel many kilometers for your date with the sea. From May 30-June 9, The Senckenberg Research Institute and Natural History Museum Frankfurt is hosting Ocean Action Days! This is an opportunity to get up close and personal with the ocean and all the swoon-worthy species that live within it. Stop by for public tours, ocean-themed stations, and hands-on activities. Most of the events will be in German, a few are also offered in English.

Check out the agenda below for an overview of the activities. Find out more details for individual events and add them to your own calendar from the Senckenberg Event Calendar.

In addition to meeting the sea, you can also meet SOSA! Stop by at the following events to say hi and chat about ocean species:

June 2 | 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea? – A journey into the fascinating world of the oceans

Two marine researchers (and SOSA PhD students!), Henry Knauber and Anchita Casaubon, will dive deep into the ocean to highlight different marine animals and how they are studied. They will discuss how new species are discovered and why it is important to describe new species.

June 9 | Sea and Ocean Action Day

Stop by the Aha?! Research Workshop for different ocean-themed activities. Sort species into taxonomic classes, spin a wheel to win marine invertebrate temporary tattoos and more! There is so much to discover about the ocean and the marine species that live within it!
