Why do we need marine species knowledge?
SOSA presented during UN Ocean Decade laboratory “A Clean Ocean”
Food supply, pest and disease control, pharmaceutical and technological inspiration – there are many reasons for humanity to knwo the species it shares this planet with. Recently, SOSA co-chair Torben was invited to the wrap-up of the “A Clean Ocean” conference of the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development. He presented why knowledge about marine species is essential for humanity and what could help to fill the currently existing knowledge gap: the SOSA goals.
