Our staff are key to our success. At the Senckenberg Ocean Species Alliance (SOSA), we are committed to creating a workplace that is fair and inclusive, and which welcomes diversity, recognizing the many benefits that diverse perspectives provide. Our cultural values are built on mutual respect, commitment and excellence. We embrace the critical importance of cultivating and empowering a diverse and inclusive workforce and work environment, enabling SOSA to attract the widest and deepest pools of talent, leverage the capabilities of our exceptional workforce, and empower all personnel to be authentic, to participate, and to fully contribute.
We thrive for the provision of equal opportunities and equitable treatment which we believe should be an integral part of our organizational culture. As part of the SGN we collaborate with and support the work of the Senckenberg Diversity and Inclusion Committee. During the recruitment process for SOSA staff we will actively engage with the Senckenberg personnel department and the D&I committee to use best practice to recruit a diverse pool of applicants for all positions and to make selections that support equitable consideration of candidates from under-represented groups, in particular women and international applicants.
As part of our international collaborative work, we also commit to decolonizing the work of species discovery and taxonomy. We want to support capacity building for taxonomy, conservation, and outreach efforts in less developed countries through our partners and collaborators. This includes supporting additional infrastructure for scientific collections in other countries, and ensuring that international researchers have unfettered access to scholarly resources we can provide through Senckenberg.
We welcome feedback on what we are doing, what we can do better, and how we can work together to achieve our vision for outstanding performance, where everyone has the opportunity to contribute and to benefit.
We welcome applications from everyone, and offer a stimulating and professional environment in which to work. We look for staff who can work according to our values: diversity, creativity, connection and evidence-based thinking.
